On an otherwise typical September night, BTFL gave Brooklyn a glimpse inside the minds of two dynamic and transcendent artists, with something new to showcase.

BTFL Consulting was tasked with establishing Matt Shultz’s brand as a visual artist by organizing a revealing and relevant moment in the heart of Brooklyn. In accordance with its mission to connect brands, innovators, and ideas, the BTFL team was asked to curate and transform a warehouse space into a creative community: Visual artists, performers, musicians, art collectors, gallerists, press, family and friends all present to appreciate the process of visual creativity.

BTFL managed production, creative development, PR strategy, talent procurement and art direction for the show as well as management of the space and event execution. BTFL focused on creating a unique, personal and authentic methodology to premier both Shultz’ art and his process to the community, designing the space as precisely as the persons invited to fill it. The art show itself was designed as immersive, engaging, and a reflection of the creative brands inherent to the featured artists while serving as a platform for said creators to connect with their network.

With around 200 guests throughout the evening, BTFL hosted a rotating dinner experience accompanied by multiple activations traversing a 30+ piece art installation with work from both Shultz and Danny Cole. Throughout the evening, BTFL directed live musical performances from Cage The Elephant, Beck, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Straw Pipes, Gustaf, Sähd Wyte Guyz and more. Anthony Roth Costanza even dressed as a cowboy and stopped the show with his countertenor rendition of a Phillip Glass piece. The crowd was given surprise butoh dance experience with the world-renowned, Yokko. And to finish the night, celebrating the community nature of this activation, attendees were invited to join a group painting project alongside featured painters Shultz and Cole themselves.
